Use hosting reviews to choose the best host

So you’ve registered a domain. Congratulations. You’ve chosen the Wordpress theme you’re going to use, and isn’t it stunning? It’s got Widget support and everything. Well done.

Now you need to get your hosting sorted. You need to make perhaps the most important decision you’ll ever make with regard to your new blog or website. Who’s going to look after it? Who’s going to make sure it’s online 24hrs a day, 7 days a week? Who’s going to make sure that your Wordpress database doesn’t become corrupt or your precious HTML files deleted?

You thought choosing a host was all about price? Think again. If you’re in any way planning to present a professional face on your site, run a business from it, or have it as a marketing tool for your offline business, you’d better make damn sure you choose the right host. Pick the wrong one because it’s cheaper or has some flashy extra gizmos to entice you and Boom, your precious site could be in trouble.

You need to choose a host that has proven itself to be reliable. One whose uptime, while not 100% is as near as damnit, and one who, when things do go wrong (because, believe me, they will) has the kind of customer service that responds to your support ticket tout suite and doesn’t leave it so long that you wonder if the company is still in business.

So, uptime and customer service — two key criteria for choosing a host. And don’t take the company’s word for how great they are, do your own research. Read web hosting reviews like those on this site. Read forum posts and any other discussions you can find.

There are other criteria, of course. You’ll want a host that uses CPanel and Fantastico (nearly all do) and which allows you to host multiple sites. You’ll want support for mySQL databases and CGI scripts.
And then, of course, there’s price. Price is important, obviously. But don’t let a few bucks a month lead you into making a bad decision. Narrow down your options first, then look at price.

Remember: uptime and customer service are key, and hosting reviews are an excellent resource for identifying which hosts score most highly.

Once you’ve done that, check out these hosting coupons and see if you can save yourself some money.

Which web host offers online business optimization?

Stuck with online business optimization? Pulling your hair out trying to rank highly in the search engines and attract visitors? Confused about social networking, Twittering, link building, and everything else you feel you should be doing? Then stop. Now.

If you’re looking for a web host to look after your small business, you’ll want one that does more than just offer the basics. You’ll want one that offers some form of small business optimization to give you and your business the best chance of succeeding online. There’s so much to do just to attract visitors to your site and turn them into paying customers, that with most web hosts, you’ll spend all your time optimizing for search engines, building links, and writing articles, when you need to be running your business.

Thankfully, there are other options, companies which don’t just host your site but help with online business optimization. The one I recommend, and the one which I have used to build several sites is SiteBuildIt or SBI as it’s known. SBI offers lots of features to help small business owners like you build your business online without having to spend hours every day keeping up with the latest trends and search engine rankings. You really don’t need to know your Twitter form your elbow to use it and succeed.

There are two things that set SBI apart. The first is the sheer range of features. There’s a block by block building tool which allows you to easily create oages, even if you have never built a website. There’s an analysis tool to tell you how well each page is optimized for the search engines before you publish it. There are tools for link building email newsletters, statistics galore, and a brand new state of the art and utterly unique brainstorming tool called BrainstormIt, to help you choose the keywords around which to create content so that you give yourself the best possible chance of attracting potential customers to your site. There are also a bunch of tools to help you turn those visitors into customers. The second thing that sets SBI apart from the crowd is its fantastic and hugely passionate community of users, headed up by the CEO of the company that makes it. You have to read these guys’ comments on the SBI forums to believe it. They are so committed, so passionate about what they do that you can’t help but be inspired.

SBI isn’t for everyone, if you want a database-driven content management system, you’ll need to sign-up with another host like Hostgator or Fat Cow and install Joomla or Wordpress. But if you want help with online business optimization and are more interested in building a business online, one which grows equity and builds relationships with customers, you really should read what SiteBuildIt has to offer.

What are Web Hosting Coupons?

If you’re looking for a web host, you’ve probably seen the phrase ‘web hosting coupons‘ used a great deal, but what are they? Put simply, web hosting coupons are codes which entitle you to a discount on web hosting accounts or domain name registration with a web host.

Most of the big hosting companies offer coupon codes for various deals, but they can be difficult, and even if you do find them, they are often out of date. That’s why here at Discounted Web Hosting we have a page dedicated to up-to-date, regularly reviewed, hosting coupons. You can see Hostgator coupons and GoDaddy coupons here.

If you look at that page, you’ll see that there are a number of different coupon codes for different deals. For example, some codes offer you .com domains for $7.49 at Godaddy, compared to the $9.99 it would normally cost. Other codes offer you a percentage discount on the total cost of your order and then there are those which offer you money-off domain registration. The key to making best use of these coupons is to put together your order before you start to add codes to your shopping cart. Once you’ve decided exactly what you want to order, you can then decide which of the codes will give you the biggest discount – for example, one of the best offers currently is Hostgator’s one cent/ month limited period offer. However, if you place a big order, you may save more money by using a coupon with a percentage discount.

You can only use one coupon code per order, so you need to choose the one you use carefully.

Finally, don’t let the fact that one company has the best hosting coupons dictate your choice of host. That choice should be made according to a range of criteria, including customer service, features, bandwidth and percentage up-time.
